Splendour in the Grass – Style update

by admin on Aug.03, 2010, under Fashion

Well, what a weekend it was for all the music loving Aussies who made the pilgrimage to the annual ‘Splendour in the Grass’ Festival 2010 – this time held at Woodford for it’s 10 year anniversary. Our first ever ‘Splendour Experience’ & we were certainly not disappointed with the incredible line up of amazing music from both local and interational acts.

Another aspect to the festival was of course, some of the unique and quirky festival fashions seen worn both on the ground and on stage by performers and dwellers alike. So amongst all the madness, we managed to take a few snaps of some of the stylish outfits we saw roaming around over the 3 day period + a little re-cap on what some of our personal favorite performers were wearing on the night!

natalia-new-1-Natalia makes wellington boots look cool by partnering them up with some cut-out leggings, cute summer shorts & a simple zebra print tank top (oh & can’t forget the hot sunnies)
hannah-new-
Hannah rocks the ‘docs’ & a cool smoke print tee over leggings. The chiffon cloak was found in an op shop for $2 – Nice score!

jodie-and-jordan-
Jodie & Jordan are looking very chic & ready to party in their festival attire. Hats & handbags – they come prepared!
cloak-new-
A ‘Mystery girl’ spotted in the crowd caught our eye with this awesome vintage cloak with oversized sleeves – loving her personal style!
florence-FB
Florence Welch looked angelic in her Vintage white dress and long hooded cloak
goldfrapp-FB-
Alison Goldfrapp oozed style & cemented her already amazing onstage presence with her tight leather leggings & dramatic feathered coat.
empire-FB-
Luke Steele of course never lets us down. His feathered shoulder attachments and incredible face make-up certainly lived up to his eccentric reputation.

“New York”, “New York” – Indigo Joker is in LOVE!

by admin on May.16, 2010, under Fashion, The Latest

Three letters to describe our recent design inspiration trip…WOW!

Yesterday, after arriving back home after what seemed like a never-ending flight back from LA. We unpacked our bags and reminisced on what proved to be yet ANOTHER truly fascinating & eye-opening holiday….this time to the United States of America!

Our first stop was in the one & only ‘BIG APPLE’! To say that this place was my favorite out of all would be a little unfair but I think I might have to give it that title anyway. Everything New York has to offer is out of this world and in the way of FASHION & general street style worn by the local girls (and guys) once delved down into trendy, young & urban areas such as: Lower East side & the meat-packing district you’ll see what I mean.

The streets were littered with eclectic bars & trendy boutiques, that once you walked inside you were taken into a whole new world, a MILLION miles away from Australia. That authentic New York/trendsetter vibe kicks in and you feel transported into a realm of unrivaled style  that they seem to nail on the head each time.

So many ideas, not to mention great contacts were made in New York & you’ll be happy to know that Indigo Joker may even have the privilege of having some upcoming designs stocked in a couple of these amazing stores in the near future.

Below are a couple of snaps we took of general street style we admired of some local NY lasses’ + a few random pics we took of things we liked along the way!

Some of my ‘New York’ purchases – a little bit of vintage  & rest new
ny-buys

Next stop on our trip was San Francisco – California!

A complete contrast to the fast paced, bustling streets of New York, but exactly what we needed after many a late night in the concrete jungle.  San Fran offered an ‘old charm’ feel that you get when watching movies from the 60′s & 70′s set in a time of Rock n Roll and free love.

We explored the magical streets here, met some great locals at a fantastic live jazz show & sniffed out the next cool urban little hot spot & fashion  & food hub…”Haight Ashbury”

Here, again, the streets teamed with both vintage & new stores. Homeless buskers & street performers all competing for you attention but so full of fun you couldn’t help but smile when watching them do their thing.

The fashion here was more of an ‘vintage/earthy’ type &  majority of our inspiration was gained from the outside surroundings & people!

Again, below are a couple of visuals to help paint the scene…

Last Stop….LAS VEGAS!!!!

Luckily we had time to rest in San Fran as vegas was set to take us on a journey of a life-time! Again, very different & incomparable to the previous two cities but one that had a life of it’s own!

‘Sin City’ is certainly the best term to describe this place when you witness all sorts of craziness unfolding in front of you eyes but again, it’s all part of the party town spirit.

The grandeur & brashness of the NEW CITY is smack, bang in your face from the minute you arrive. Dozens of MEGA hotels all competing for your attention & money by boasting some of the biggest & strangest foyer displays you could ever imagine.

From volcanoes to water features, to secret gardens and changing skyline roofs – it truly is a visual treat for your eyes.

We took a few snaps of the twinkling night lights of the sin city itself to show you what we mean.

LAST VEGAS BY NIGHT

WELCOME TO VEGASSome of my purchases from the famous ‘Designer Outlets’ in Vegas…cheap, cheap, CHEAP compared to back home.

THE END!!
